Vastushilpaconsultants (B.V.Doshi Sir)

Our office is over at Tinmurti Bungalows, specifically number 11, in the Memnagar area of Ahmedabad. It is right on the Udgam School road, which means every morning and afternoon the street is full of school buses and kids running around. Once the school bell rings, the neighborhood settles down a bit and we can get to work. We have been in this bungalow for a long time, and it definitely feels more like a home than a corporate office. We do consulting work here, so there are drawing boards and rolls of blueprints leaning against almost every wall. It is not the cleanest or most modern space, but we know where everything is kept. B.V. Doshi Sir has a big reputation in the architecture world, but here in the office, we are just regular folks trying to figure out design problems. We spend a lot of time drinking chai and talking over sketches at the big wooden table. Sometimes we sit out in the small garden patch when the Ahmedabad heat isn't too bad. We don't use fancy software for everything; a lot of it is still done with pencils and rulers. People come by when they need advice on a project, and we just give it to them straight. It is a slow, steady way of working that has suited us for years. We just keep doing what we do.
