Vadodara Municipal Corporation

We’re based out of B-38 in Mrudulpark-4, which is over near Chanakyapuri in the Ghatlodia area. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the main roads of Ahmedabad. Even though the name says Vadodara Municipal Corporation, this is where we handle the local side of things. The office is basically a ground floor house that we’ve converted into a workspace. It’s got that specific smell of old paper and ink. My desk is right by the window, so I get to see everyone walking their dogs in the morning. We spend most of our time going through records and answering questions from people who wander in looking for help. It’s not a fancy setup. We have a couple of plastic chairs for visitors and a clock on the wall that loses five minutes every week. I’ve been working here for years, and I know most of the shortcuts around Ghatlodia to avoid the school traffic. Sometimes the internet goes out when it rains hard, and we just have to wait it out. It’s a steady kind of job. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to keep the records straight and help out when someone has a problem with their paperwork. It’s nice being part of the neighborhood here. People drop by just to say hello sometimes, which makes the day go by a bit faster. We just do our bit every day.
