Usha Moulds

We’ve been here at Ambika Estate for quite a while now. It’s a busy spot right near Moonlight Chemical and just across from Talawadi Ramon. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot, just unlocking the shutters and checking what needs doing on the floor. The workshop gets pretty loud once the machines are running, but you get used to the rhythm of it after a few years. People sometimes have a hard time finding the exact gate because the estate is a bit of a maze, but usually, if you look for the chemical plant landmark, you’ll spot us tucked in there at number 8. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. We have some desks in the front and the heavy equipment in the back where the actual work happens. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings by midday, and someone is always sweeping up. It’s just how it is when you’re making moulds all day long. Sometimes the electricity acts up or a delivery truck gets stuck in the narrow lane outside, but we just deal with it and keep moving. Most of the guys here have been with the shop for ages, so we don't need to say much to know what the next step is. We just focus on the orders we have and try to get them out the door so we can start on the next pile of drawings sitting on the desk. It’s steady work and keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday.
