Stone Campus

You can find our yard at Plot 31 on Vadsar Road, right in the Gota area near Dantali. We call it Stone Campus, but it is really just a big open space where we keep all our stone slabs stacked up. The Gota area has been growing so fast lately that there is always construction noise in the background. We have all kinds of granite and marble piled up everywhere. When it rains, the colors of the stone really come out, and the whole yard looks different. It is hard work because everything we handle is so heavy. We use forklifts and cranes, but you still end up using your muscles a lot. We spend most of our time outside, so our clothes and shoes are always covered in grit. There is a small shed where we do the paperwork and sit when the sun gets too hot. We talk to a lot of architects and masons who come in to pick out specific pieces for their projects. They can be very picky about the veins in the marble or the shade of the granite. We just let them take their time and wander around the stacks. Some days are slow and we just tidy up the yard, and other days it feels like everyone wants their stone at the same time. It is a messy job and your hands get rough, but we like being out here. We just focus on keeping the slabs safe and getting them to the sites.
