Our place is at Plot No. 13 in the Shreeram Industrial Estate, right behind the CMC building at Soni Chawl. Odhav is a pretty industrial area, so there are always sounds of machinery and trucks coming through the cross road. Sigma Surgical has been here for a while now. We make and sell surgical items, so we have to keep our workspace a lot cleaner than the dusty streets outside might suggest. It is a bit of a maze to find us if you do not know the landmarks, but once you are here, it is just a straightforward factory setup. We have the manufacturing floor on one side and the small office on the other. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, but the ceiling fans do their best. We started with just a couple of machines and slowly added more as we got more orders from the local hospitals. The guys in the workshop have been with us for years, and they know the equipment inside out. We do not do a lot of fancy advertising or have a big sales team. Most of our work comes from people knowing we have been here in Ahmedabad for a long time. We just try to make things that work and get them delivered on time. It is hard work, and by the time the shift ends, everyone is ready to head home to their families.
