Shree Gayatri Clearing Agency is on the fifth floor of the Sukh Sagar Complex on Ashram Road in Usmanpura. This part of Ahmedabad is always buzzing, especially with all the offices and shops nearby. Our office at 502 is where we handle all the customs clearing work. It’s a lot of physical paperwork, so we have folders stacked up on almost every flat surface. The air outside is often dusty because of the construction that seems to never end on Ashram Road. Inside, it’s mostly the sound of keyboards clicking and the occasional heavy sigh when a form gets rejected. I’ve been here for several years, and I’ve seen the way the neighborhood has changed around us. We have a small table in the corner where we keep the newspapers and a box of biscuits. Most of our clients are local businesses who need help getting their goods through the legal hurdles. We don't use big words or try to act like we are more important than we are. We just know how to fill out the forms and who to talk to at the various offices. Sometimes we have to go out in the afternoon sun to deliver documents, and it’s always a relief to get back to the shade of the building. It’s a simple, honest way to earn a living, and we’re glad to be a part of the community here.
