Saraswati Plaster Co.

Our place is over at 5/50 Survey No. 123/1/3 in Gopal Nagar, Memnagar. It is more of a yard than a fancy office. We deal with plaster, so as you can imagine, everything has a thin layer of white dust on it no matter how much we sweep. We have got the bags stacked high under the corrugated roof. Memnagar has grown a lot around us over the years, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. We have a small cabin where we sit to do the billing and take orders. It has a small window that looks out onto the main gate so we can see who is coming in. Usually, it is just the regular contractors we have known for years. We don't really do much in the way of sales pitches. People come to us because they know where we are and they know what we have in stock. The guys who work here are mostly from the neighborhood. We start early, around 8 o'clock, to get the loading done before the sun gets too high. Sometimes the trucks have a hard time navigating the turn into Gopal Nagar, but they usually manage. It is a straightforward business. We provide the plaster, we load the trucks, and we keep the records in our big ledger books. It is dusty and tiring work, but it is what pays the bills for us and the families of the workers. We have been here since the roads were dirt.
