Our workshop is at 4 A Meldi Estate. It’s right near the Gota Railway Crossing in Gota Gam. If you’re ever around the crossing, you can usually hear the trains whistling and going by all through the day. We make all kinds of furniture here at S M Furniture. It’s a pretty dusty place because of all the wood shavings and the constant sawing. We’ve got piles of different types of timber and plywood boards leaning against the walls. It’s definitely not a fancy showroom where everything is shiny and under bright lights. It’s where the actual heavy work happens. You can smell the glue, the varnish, and the fresh wood as soon as you walk in. We spend our days measuring, cutting, and hammering things together. Sometimes we have a lot of big orders at once and the whole floor is just covered in sawdust. Other times it’s a bit slower and we can clean up a bit. We’ve been in Gota for a long time now. The local people know us and just stop by to see what we're making. We don't have a marketing team or a fancy website. If someone needs a new cupboard or a simple bed frame, they just come by and talk to us. We show them the wood we use and what we’re currently working on. It’s honest, hard work. The railway crossing can be a bit of a wait sometimes if the gates are down for a long train. We just keep working through the noise. It’s a simple life for us. We like working with our hands. It’s just a few of us here. No big corporate rules, just making sure everything we build is solid and fits right together.
