Rubber King Tyres India is tucked away in B/3, Kaladarshan Flat, which is right opposite the Dhanvantari Garden in Paldi. Ahmedabad is a crowded city, but having the garden across the street makes it feel a bit more open. If you’re walking through Fatehpura, you’ll find us easily enough. The flat is on the ground floor, which is handy for moving things in and out without dealing with the stairs or the lift. It is not a huge factory site or anything, just our administrative side of things where we manage the tyre business. The walls are lined with stacks of paper and some old calendars. We’ve been in this part of Paldi for a long time, so we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. The garden gets busy in the mornings with walkers, and we usually arrive just as the crowd is thinning out. The office itself is pretty basic. We have a few fans going all day to keep the Ahmedabad heat at bay. We don’t have a big receptionist or a waiting lounge. If someone comes by, they just pull up a chair near one of the desks. It is a practical way to work. We spend our days on the phone or checking orders. It is a bit cramped when everyone is in at the same time, but we make it work. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we’re like family.
