I work out of flat number 10 in Vraj Apartment, which is on P T College Road in Paldi. It’s a pretty quiet residential area for the most part, though you get the usual traffic from people heading towards Dr Ambedkar Bridge. My place is right opposite Alok Apartment, so it’s easy to give directions. I’ve set up the space to handle my work, which mostly involves a lot of reading and managing documents. It’s a small setup, just me and a couple of others helping out occasionally. The rooms are filled with books and files, and I have a desk that’s seen a lot of use over the years. I don’t have a big sign or a fancy lobby; people just come up to the first floor and knock on the door. It feels more like a home office than a corporate space, which I think makes people feel a bit more relaxed when they visit. We have a small balcony where I keep some plants, though they struggle a bit in the Ahmedabad heat. Most days are spent at the computer or on the phone, trying to get through the to-do list. There’s always a pile of mail near the door and a kettle that’s usually on for tea. It’s a simple way of working, without any of the extra bells and whistles you see in bigger firms. I just focus on the tasks at hand and try to keep everything in order as best as I can.
