Rao Motors

Rao Motors is tucked away at B-3 in the Akshardham Society. To find us, you really have to look behind the Madhavbaug Society in the Nirnaynagar area. It’s not right on the main road, so it’s a bit quieter than the big showrooms. We spend our days mostly covered in a bit of grease and oil. There is always a car or two parked out front waiting for a part. The workshop isn't very large, so things can get a bit cluttered with tools and spare tires. We have a small desk in the corner for the paperwork, but mostly we are on our feet. The heat in Ahmedabad hits us pretty hard in the summer because the garage doors stay open all day. We have a few old fans that move the hot air around. It’s a local business through and through. Most people who come to us are neighbors from Nirnaynagar or nearby. We don't have a fancy waiting room with a TV. People usually just stand around and talk while we look under the hood. It’s a messy job sometimes, but someone has to do it. We have been in this spot for years and the locals know where to find us when their engine starts making a weird noise. We just take it one car at a time and try to get them back on the road. It isn't a huge operation but it keeps us going.
