If you go to the Akshar Complex at Shivranjani Cross Road in Satellite, you’ll find us at number 20. It’s a busy intersection, so there’s always something happening outside the window. We’ve been here for a while, dealing with jewelry and precious metals. The shop is small but we’ve made the most of the space. Most of our time is spent sitting at the counter talking to people or cleaning pieces that have lost their shine. It’s a lot of sitting and focused work. We don't use any big words or try to act like we're a high-end boutique from a movie. It's just a local shop where we know many of our customers by their first names. Sometimes the display cases get fingerprinted all over, so we’re constantly wiping them down. We have a small back room where we keep the tools for adjustments. The coffee machine in the corner is probably the most important piece of equipment on some mornings. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the trade. People stop by to chat as much as they do to buy anything. We just keep the lights on and stay ready for whoever needs something fixed or valued. It’s a steady life and we like the neighborhood. We are usually here until late evening when the traffic finally starts to thin out.
