We are over at 3, Bapunagar, on Jilla Garden Road here in Rajkot. Poonam Castech Pvt. Ltd. has been operating from this spot for a good while. Rajkot is known for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the other shops. The road outside, Jilla Garden Road, gets quite busy with scooters and trucks carrying loads. Our place is basically a workshop where we do casting. It’s a lot of sand and metal and heat. The floors are always covered in a bit of dust, no matter how much we sweep. We have the furnace going most days, so it stays warm even in the winter months. We don’t have a fancy showroom. If you want to see what we do, you have to come into the back where the actual work happens. The guys wear heavy boots and shirts that are usually stained with grease and sweat. It’s honest work. We have a small space in the front for taking orders and keeping the ledger. Sometimes we sit out front when the weather is nice to have a quick break. Bapunagar is a crowded area, so there is always something going on outside. We know the neighbors well and we’ve been part of this community for many years. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just make the parts and send them out to whoever needs them. It’s a basic, solid operation.
