Poddar Emporium

We’ve been here at 1408, Maliwara for quite some time now. If you know Nai Sarak, you know how busy it gets every single morning before the sun is even fully up. It’s mostly just us keeping things moving and making sure the shelves aren't empty when people walk in through the narrow door. Our shop isn't fancy or anything like those big malls. It’s an old space with high ceilings, but it works for what we do every day. Usually, the day starts early with unloading stuff and checking what came in the night before from the suppliers. Sometimes the traffic in the narrow lanes makes things late, but that’s just how it is around here in this part of Delhi. We don't really do big ads or anything like that. Most folks just know us because they’ve been coming to this part of the city for years. My desk is usually covered in papers and tea cups by noon. We just try to keep things simple. If someone needs something, we find it in the back, even if it takes a minute. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy boxes and writing down entries in the old ledger. The lighting in the back isn't great, but we know exactly where everything is kept. It gets really hot in the summers, but we have a small fan that keeps us going through the afternoon. We aren't trying to change the world, just running the shop.
