Stitchwell Garments

You will find Stitchwell Garments over at Plot No. 2011/B in Phase-4 of the GIDC in Vatva. It is a typical industrial area, so there is always a lot of activity going on around us. We have a long row of sewing machines that run for most of the day. The hum of the motors is the main sound you hear when you walk in. There is fabric of all colors piled up on the cutting tables or tucked into big bags near the entrance. We started this place because we knew how to sew and wanted to run our own shop. It is hard work and the days are long. Sometimes a needle breaks or the thread bunches up, and we have to stop and fix things, which can be frustrating. Most of the people who work here come from the surrounding neighborhoods. We all know about each other’s families and what is happening in the local area. When it’s time for lunch, we just pull up some stools and share our tiffins together. We don’t have a showroom with bright lights. If a customer wants to see what we are making, they just come right onto the floor and look at the garments on the machines. The walls are a bit stained and the ceiling fans make a lot of noise. The clothes we make are just simple and meant to hold together well. We focus on getting the work done without making a fuss about it.
