Running things over at Plot No. A1/3707 in Phase-4 of GIDC Vatva takes a lot of coordination. Cadila Healthcare Ltd. has a big presence here, but for those of us on the ground, it’s about the daily routine. Every morning, the staff arrives and parks their scooters along the fence. The security guard at the front gate knows most of us by name. Inside the building, there is a specific kind of quiet that you don't find in the machine shops down the road. It smells clean, almost like a doctor’s office, which is a big change from the outside air in Vatva. We spend a lot of time looking at schedules and checking the equipment in the labs. The light in the hallways is bright and white. Around noon, everyone heads to the small canteen area or finds a shady spot outside to eat their lunch. The trucks come and go throughout the afternoon, loading up boxes that go out to the main roads. It can get stressful when a deadline is close, but we usually manage to get through it without too much trouble. By five or six, the shift changes and a new group of people comes in. The sun sets behind the chemical tanks nearby, and the whole industrial estate starts to look a bit different. It’s just how life goes here at the plot.
