You can find us at Plot No. 1110 in Phase-3 of the GIDC in Vatva. This isn't one of those big fancy banks in the middle of a shopping mall. We are right in the thick of the industrial area where people are working with machines all day. Most of our customers come in with ink or grease on their hands because they’ve just stepped away from their factory floor for a minute. The Kalupur Commercial Co. Op. Bank Ltd. has been part of this neighborhood for a long time. The lobby gets pretty crowded around lunchtime when the workers get a break and want to deposit their pay or withdraw some cash. There’s always the sound of the passbook printer clicking away and people chatting in the queue. We have some plastic chairs for people to sit while they wait their turn. The air conditioning works most of the time but when the front door keeps opening and closing, the heat from the Vatva streets creeps in. We handle a lot of small accounts for the local businesses and the people who live nearby. It’s a lot of paper shifting and counting, just the usual bank stuff. We know the faces of the regulars who come in every week. It’s just a busy little branch trying to keep up with the pace of the GIDC. We do our best to stay organized.
