Bhagwati Wood Industries

If you come down to Plot No. 5503/3 in Phase-4 of GIDC, Vatva, you will find Bhagwati Wood Industries. You will probably smell the sawdust before you even see the gate. We have piles of timber stacked up in the yard, drying out under the sun. Inside the shed, the air is always thick with a fine wood dust that settles on everything. We wear masks when the big saws are running because it gets quite intense. It is a noisy place, with the screaming sound of the blades cutting through thick logs. We spend our days measuring, marking, and cutting. There is something satisfying about seeing a raw piece of wood turn into something useful, though it is hard on the back and the hands. We have a few old saws that have been with us since we started at Plot No. 5503/3, and we take good care of them. The workers here have callouses on their hands and don't talk much while the machines are on. We take our tea together in the late afternoon when the power load is high and we have to slow down. Bhagwati Wood Industries isn't a showroom. It’s a working sawmill where things are messy and loud. We don't have any marketing slogans. We just cut the wood to the sizes people need and move on to the next stack.
