You can find Kwality Metal Casting Corporation over at Plot No. C-1 91/16 in Phase-1 of GIDC, Vatva. Casting metal is old-school work. We have the furnaces and the sand molds all set up in the back. It gets incredibly hot when we’re pouring, so we try to do the big melts early in the morning before the sun really starts hitting the tin roof. There’s a lot of heavy lifting involved, moving the flasks and the scrap metal around. The air is always a bit thick with the smell of the foundry. We aren't a high-tech shop with robots; it’s mostly just us and the tools we’ve used for years. Every casting has its own personality, sometimes they come out perfect and sometimes there’s a bubble or a crack and we have to melt it down and start over. That’s just part of the game in a foundry. Our office is just a desk in the corner with a phone and a lot of old catalogs. We don’t spend much time there. Most of the time we’re out on the floor, checking the molds or breaking the finished parts out of the sand once they've cooled down. It’s a tough way to make a living but we’ve been doing it a long time. People around Vatva know us for being steady and showing up every day to get the work finished.
