Being on the first floor at 176 Mahatma Gandhi Road means there is always noise from the street coming up through the windows. Partake Exports Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of this space for quite some time. It is a bit of a climb up the stairs, especially when we have a lot of samples to carry. The office is full of files and boxes waiting to go somewhere. Kolkata is a busy city, and MG Road is right in the thick of it. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or checking emails about shipments. It’s not always smooth sailing; sometimes things get delayed at the port or there’s a typo in the paperwork that takes all afternoon to fix. We don't have a big reception area or anything like that. Just some desks, a couple of fans that rattle a bit, and a lot of coffee cups. Most of the people working here have been with us for years, so we all know how the others like their work done. We deal with all sorts of items for export, and it keeps us on our toes. You get used to the constant honking outside after a while. It’s just how it is working in this part of town. We just focus on getting the crates out and making sure the labels are right. There is always something to do here.
