You’ll find us on the second floor of 137/139 Kika Street, right in the heart of Gulalwadi. This is an old part of the city where the streets are narrow and always filled with handcarts carrying metal sheets and rods. To get to us, you have to walk up a somewhat steep flight of stairs. The building is old, and you can hear the sounds of the metal trade from every window. We deal with various metal products, and our office is usually full of samples and heavy ledgers. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find plush carpets or modern art. We have old metal fans and wooden chairs that have been here for decades. The atmosphere is very traditional, and business is often done over a cup of cutting chai. We know the guys in the shops downstairs and the porters who move the heavy loads. It can get very hot in the afternoons, especially with all the metal around, but we just keep the windows open. We spend our time checking weights, writing out invoices by hand, and talking to suppliers on the phone. It’s a busy life, and there’s always something that needs to be moved or counted. We don't use much technology beyond what’s necessary. It’s all about the relationships we’ve built on Kika Street over the years. We just focus on doing our bit and keeping the business going one day at a time.
