Manohar Bags

Our shop, Manohar Bags, is at No. 1868, right across from the Jumma Masjid. We are near Abc Surgical in the Pankornaka area. It is a very old part of town, and you can feel it in the narrow streets and the way the buildings lean into each other. Every day we hear the call to prayer from the mosque, which sort of marks the time for us. The shop is filled with bags of all kinds. We have them hanging from the ceiling and stacked up on the floor. It is a bit of a squeeze to walk through the place sometimes. There is always the sound of sewing machines running in the back and the smell of new fabric and leather. Pankornaka is always crowded with people shopping and shouting, so it is never quiet here. We spend our time cutting material, stitching seams, and talking to the regulars who have been coming to us for years. The building is old and the floors are uneven, but it has character. We do not have a computer system or anything modern like that. We keep track of things in a big paper book and we know most of our stock by heart. It is a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. We just keep making the bags and hope the machines do not break down too often. It is our life at 1868.
