Padmavati Furniture

Padmavati Furniture is tucked away in Ff-18 at Rivera Arcade. It’s a bit different being in a commercial arcade compared to a big warehouse, but it works for us. We have enough space to show some of the pieces we’ve been working on. The smell of sawdust and wood polish usually hangs in the air around our unit. Sometimes the neighbors in the arcade complain about the noise when we're finishing something up, but we try to keep the heavy work for certain hours. We don’t have a huge team. It’s mostly just a few skilled hands and someone to mind the front. We’ve seen a lot of shops come and go in Rivera Arcade, but we’ve managed to stay put. People usually find us through word of mouth. We don’t do a lot of fancy advertising. If someone likes a chair or a table we made, they tell their cousin or a friend. That’s how we’ve always done it. The floor is often covered in wood shavings, and there’s always a tape measure hanging out of someone’s pocket. We take our time with things. If a joint isn't right, we fix it. It's not a fast-paced factory line. It’s just us making furniture that's meant to be used. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy and the lights on for another month. We just enjoy the smell of the wood and the feeling of finishing a piece.
