You can find our furniture shop at No. 55 on Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai in Mylapore. It is a well-known road, so we get quite a bit of foot traffic during the day. We have got all sorts of pieces crammed into the showroom, from wooden tables to chairs and cupboards. It is a bit of a maze sometimes, trying to walk through the aisles without bumping into a sofa or a wardrobe. We do not go for the super modern, minimalist look in the store. It is more about having a lot of different options for people to see and touch before they decide. A lot of the wood we use is solid, so the pieces are quite heavy and durable. We spend a lot of time polishing the surfaces and making sure the hinges do not squeak. Our delivery guys are pretty good at maneuvering the big items through the narrow doors often found in this old part of town. Mylapore is an old neighborhood, and we like being here. The shop has a certain smell of wood shavings and wax that we have grown to love over the years. We do not have a big corporate office; it is just a small desk in the back where we keep the bills and papers. We try to be helpful when someone is looking for a specific size of table, but we do not push people to buy things.
