We are located in Memnagar, right near the St. Xavier’s School and Loyalla Hall. The office is actually in the Saath Apartment building, specifically unit C-403. It feels more like a home than a big corporate headquarters, which is just how things are for us at Orchid Shipping Pvt.Ltd. Dhruti Raval and the rest of us work out of this space. It’s a residential area, so it stays relatively calm compared to the main industrial zones. You can hear the kids at the school during their break times, and the neighborhood feels very lived-in. We have a couple of desks pushed together and a lot of files for the shipping documents. Sometimes the lift in the apartment building is a bit slow, so we just take the stairs. The balcony has a few plants that someone remembers to water once in a while. We drink a lot of tea while we talk to people on the phone about their cargo. It’s not a flashy setup with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just an apartment where we handle the business of moving things across the ocean. We know the neighbors, and the local shops nearby are where we get our daily snacks. It is a very Ahmedabad way of working—simple, local, and focused on the job at hand. We have been here for a bit and it works for what we need to do.
