A.K. Enterprise

A.K. Enterprise is located over in Odhav, right in the Samir Nagar Part 2 area. Our place is number 135. It’s a bit of a dusty part of Ahmedabad, but it’s where all the action is for small businesses like ours. We have a small shed where we keep our tools and all the raw materials we use. It’s nothing special to look at from the outside, just a plain door. We do a lot of small-scale manufacturing and assembly here. Most of the time it’s just the sound of tools and the local radio playing in the background. We aren't a big factory with hundreds of workers. It’s a few guys who know how to put things together the right way. The neighborhood is mostly other workshops and small homes crowded together. We have to be very careful with the space we have because it's tight. We keep our supplies in plastic bins stacked all the way to the ceiling. Some days we have more work than we can handle and the place is a mess. Other days we’re just cleaning up the floor and waiting for the next truck to arrive with parts. We don't have a lot of visitors, mostly just suppliers or delivery drivers. It’s a bit cramped, especially when we get a large shipment of steel or plastic. We just keep working until the sun goes down and then we lock up for the night. That's how things go here. It's hard work, but it keeps us going day after day.
