Our office is situated in Krishna Vihar, over in the Kannadi area of Palghat. It’s a bit of a quieter spot compared to some of the other highway offices, but we still have plenty to do with the roads around here. Being in Kerala, we have to deal with the monsoon seasons which always keep us on our toes regarding the drainage and road surfaces. The office itself is quite simple, just a regular building where we keep all the records and plans for the local highway projects. Most of us live nearby, so we know the local geography pretty well. We spend a lot of time coordinating with contractors and making sure the signage is up to date. It’s not uncommon to see a few of us standing around a large table looking at a map of a new bypass or an interchange. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed but the work gets done. We have a small tea stall nearby where we usually go for breaks. It’s a lot of practical, day-to-day management of the infrastructure. We don't have a big corporate lobby or anything like that, just a front door and a bunch of people working to keep the local transport links moving. It’s honest work and we like being part of the local community here in Kannadi.
