Our place, Umiya Industries, sits right at Plot No. 176/5 in Phase 1 of the GIDC. If you're looking for us, we are right across from the Ingersol building, which is a big landmark for everyone around here. It’s a good spot to be. We’ve got a small crew here and we all know each other’s names. Most of the day is spent handling the equipment and making sure the orders are lined up. We aren't big on meetings or long emails. Usually, if something needs saying, we just shout it across the shop floor. It’s loud because of the machines, so you get used to speaking up. We take our lunch breaks together when we can, usually sitting near the entrance where there’s a bit of a breeze. Being in Phase 1 means we’ve seen a lot of businesses come and go, but we’ve managed to stay put at 176/5. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s honest work that keeps us busy. We focus on the work right in front of us. Sometimes the power goes out or a delivery is late, and we just deal with it as it comes. That's the reality of running a shop like Umiya Industries. We don't have a lot of frills or a big reception area. Just the tools we need and the space to use them. It’s been our routine for years and it suits us fine. We know the guys in the neighboring units and we often help each other out when someone is short-handed. You won't find us in suits or sitting at big desks.
