Mahakali Ice

We make ice over at Plot No. 803/c/1 in Phase 4 of the Gidc. It’s a cold job in a hot place. The machines run pretty much all the time to keep up with the demand. You can hear the hum of the compressors from the street before you even see the gate. We handle blocks and bags, mostly for local businesses or the fishing trucks that pass through. It gets really busy during the summer months when everyone needs to stay cool. The floor is always wet, so we wear rubber boots all day. It’s a straightforward business. We don't have a marketing team or a fancy website to show off. People just know we’re here in Phase 4 when they need a load of ice for their coolers. We load the trucks early in the morning, sometimes while it’s still dark out and the air is still a bit fresh. It’s hard work, lifting those heavy blocks, but it keeps us moving. We’ve had this spot for a while now. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to scramble to fix it before things start melting. That’s the main stress of the job. But usually, things run smooth enough. We just focus on keeping the water clean and the freezers cold. It's a simple product, but everyone needs it at some point. That’s what Mahakali Ice is about, just getting through the day and filling the orders one by one. Nothing complicated about it.
