Being at Plot No. 297/3 in Phase 1 of GIDC is pretty convenient. It’s a busy area, and there’s always something going on next door. Our building is a simple structure that’s been here for quite a while. We do most of the manufacturing in the back, and the front part is where we keep the finished stock and a small desk for the accounts. It’s not the quietest place in the world, what with the machines running and the trucks passing by, but it’s home to us. The staff here are more like a small family; we know who takes their tea with sugar and who doesn't. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. If someone wants to know what we do, they usually just walk in and ask. The walls are lined with tools and spare parts because things always need a bit of fixing. We keep the floor swept, but in an industrial park, the dust always finds its way back in. There’s a small window that looks out onto the street, but there isn't much to see except other warehouses. We focus on the work at hand, making sure the orders are filled and the machines are oiled. It’s a basic, honest way to make a living, and we’ve been doing it this way for as long as I can remember.
