Parmesh Poly-pack

Our place, Parmesh Poly-pack, is at 353/12 on Naroda Road, right across from Panchvati Estate and Popular Battery. This part of Ahmedabad is very industrial and the air is usually a bit dusty from all the trucks. We make plastic packaging products. We have several machines that run for most of the day and night. The sound is a constant humming that you stop noticing after you've worked here for a few days. It gets very hot inside, especially near the machines that melt the plastic, so we keep the big fans running all the time. We aren't a fancy office with air conditioning. We just have a small partitioned area for the accounts and a couple of chairs. Most of our time is spent on the shop floor checking the bags and making sure the rolls are even. The workers are all local men from the nearby neighborhoods. We have a small shed where we store the raw plastic granules. When the tempo arrives to load up the finished goods, everyone helps out to get it done quickly. Naroda Road is always packed with traffic, so getting our shipments out can be a bit of a struggle sometimes. We don't do much marketing because our customers have been with us for a long time. It’s just about showing up every day and making sure the machines stay in good shape.
