We’ve been based in Danapith for quite a long time now. Our shop is right near Sakar Bazar, just opposite where the Mehta Brothers are. It’s a very old part of the city, so the lanes are narrow and always crowded with people and handcarts. We deal with various goods, mostly bulk stuff that comes in through the market. The building is one of those old ones with high ceilings and wooden beams. It stays a bit cooler inside during the heat, which is nice. We spend most of our time talking to suppliers and checking the quality of what comes in. There’s always a lot of shouting and noise from the bazar outside. We don't have any fancy displays. The bags are just stacked up according to what arrived first. It’s a busy environment and you have to watch your step with all the activity. My father used to sit in the same spot where I do now. We keep the records in big ledgers. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. Sometimes we get a tea from the stall around the corner while we wait for a delivery. We know most of the other traders nearby, so it feels like a small community. We just handle the daily trade and try to stay organized in the middle of all the chaos. It’s just how things have always been done here. It is noisy and busy.
