A Textile is a small business here in Ahmedabad. This city has a long history with cloth, and we are just one small part of that tradition. We don't have a giant factory or a modern warehouse. Instead, we work out of a modest space where we store and handle different types of fabrics. The stacks of cotton and synthetic rolls go all the way to the ceiling. It’s a bit cramped, and you have to be careful walking between the narrow aisles so you don't trip over anything. We spend our days checking the quality of the weaves and making sure the colors are what they should be. Ahmedabad gets very hot, so the warehouse can be a bit stuffy in the afternoons. We just open the big doors and keep moving. We sell to local shops and some small garment makers in the area. It’s a simple trade. We’ve been doing this for years, and we know the local markets pretty well. We don't use fancy software to track everything; a lot of it is still written down in big ledgers with a pen. It works for us. We know our customers by name. We aren't looking to become a global brand. We just want to provide decent fabric at a price that makes sense for everyone involved in the local trade and keep the business going.
