Mishqat Architecs

Our office is in Apna Ghar, right near the Shahpur Bhy Center in Ahmedabad. Shahpur feels like its own little world sometimes. We have been working out of this space for quite a while now. It is an old building, but it has character, which fits what we do. We have tables covered in drawings and rolls of paper everywhere. It is a bit of a mess, but we know where everything is. People come in to talk about their houses or projects they are thinking about starting. We listen and then see what can be done with the space they have. Most of our days are spent staring at screens or sketching things out on paper. It gets hot in the afternoons, so the fans stay on high. We aren’t some big firm with hundreds of people. It is just us here in Shahpur trying to make things look decent. We have seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but Apna Ghar stays pretty much the same. Sometimes clients bring us tea when they visit, which is nice. We do not have a big receptionist or a waiting lounge. You just walk in and talk to whoever is free. It is a practical way to work. We enjoy being part of the local community and seeing our work around the city. We often take walks around the block when we are stuck on a design idea. The noise from the center nearby can be a lot, but it keeps us energized. We do not have any shiny awards on the walls, just some photos of buildings we have worked on.
