This part of Maninagar is always busy with school kids and local traffic, especially on Kankaria Road. We have been running Madras Freight Carriers from here for a good while. Our office is more about function than looks. We have old desks, plenty of ledgers, and a telephone that never seems to stop ringing. Handling freight means we are always talking to drivers and checking on truck locations throughout the day. It can get a bit dusty with the windows open, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We don’t have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know the routes and the rates. Most days involve a lot of shouting over the traffic noise to get things coordinated. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for confirmations on deliveries or pickups. It is a straightforward business where we move goods from point A to point B. We don't spend money on fancy brochures or decorations. We just make sure the paperwork is signed and the trucks are moving. It’s a local operation, and we like it that way. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit and talk until it comes back on. It is just how we do things in this corner of Ahmedabad.
