Chandan Optical

Chandan Optical is on the first floor of the G. R. Complex, which is right in the middle of Kothari Pole on Gandhi Road. This area is one of the oldest parts of the city, and it is always packed with people and scooters. Our shop is at F. F. - 105, and we have been here long enough to see the buildings around us change quite a bit. Inside, it is mostly glass counters and rows of frames on the walls. We spend our time checking eyesight and helping people pick out glasses that do not fall off their face. It is a small space, so when we have three or four customers at once, it feels very crowded. The light in here is bright so we can see the small details of the lenses. We do a lot of the lens cutting and fitting right here in the back room. You can hear the grinding machine running throughout the day. We do not use any big slogans to get people in. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming to us for years, or their kids come now. We sit on small stools and talk to people while they try on different styles. It is a slow and steady kind of business. Gandhi Road is noisy, but once you step inside, it is a bit calmer. We just try to make sure everyone leaves seeing a bit clearer than when they walked in.
