Gandhi Road is probably one of the busiest places you can find in Ahmedabad. Amrat Bharat Pen Co. is located on the 1st floor at No. 1712/1. We are right opposite the Bala Hanuman temple. You can hear the chanting and the bells ringing all day long because of the continuous prayers they do there. It is a constant spiritual background noise for our daily work. We deal in all kinds of pens and writing instruments. Our space is crowded with boxes and old glass display cases. It is a bit of a maze just to walk from the door to the desk. We often have ink stains on our blotters and sometimes on our hands too. Being on the 1st floor is good because it keeps us away from the direct dust of the road, but we can still see all the action from the window. The stairs leading up are steep and made of old stone. We have a small window that gives us a clear view of the temple entrance and all the devotees. It is a very hectic market area. People come in looking for very specific nibs or ink refills and we usually know exactly where to find them in our stacks. We still use handwritten registers for a lot of our bookkeeping because it feels right for a company that sells pens. We are a small team and we have worked together for many years.
