Vetal Press Cutting Works is right here in Tavdipura. We've been at Maheshwari Industrial Estate for a while now. The machines make a lot of noise every day, but that’s just how it is when you’re cutting metal or whatever material comes through the door. It’s not a fancy place. You’ll see dust on the floor and scraps from the press work piled up in the corners. We spend most of our time just getting through the orders that pile up on the desk. Sometimes the power goes out in Shahibaug and everything stops for a bit, so we just sit outside and wait for it to come back on. Most of us have been working these machines for years. Our hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning. It’s a simple setup at No. 55. We don't have a big front office or anything like that. People just walk in through the main gate and find us by the sound of the stamping. We handle the heavy stuff that people need for their own projects. It’s mostly just making sure the cuts are straight and the press is hitting the right spot. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we have to check a message. Mostly, it’s just the smell of oil and the sound of metal hitting metal until it’s time to lock up and head home for the day. There is always a lot to do.
