Down on Singarva Road in the Javeri Estate, you’ll find us at D4. It’s a bit of a drive out to Kathwada, but it’s where all the space is. The estate is always dusty because of the trucks moving in and out, so the windows stay pretty grey no matter how often we clean them. Inside, it’s mostly open space where we keep the stock. We started small and just stayed here because moving is too much of a headache. The roof makes a lot of noise when it rains, so you can’t really hear the phone ringing sometimes. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. If you call, you’ll probably talk to the same person every time. We don’t do much in the way of decoration; it’s just walls and floors and stuff we’re selling. Lunchtime is usually quiet, we all sit together in the small room near the entrance. Sometimes we stay late if a big shipment comes in, but mostly we try to get home before the traffic on the main road gets too backed up. The neighborhood has changed a lot since we moved in, but our little corner at D4 stays pretty much the same year after year. It's a solid place to work, even if it gets a bit lonely out this way sometimes. We like it well enough here and just keep on going.
