We set up our office in Surat, specifically in the Chowk Bazar area. It’s a very old and crowded part of the city, but it has a lot of character. We are in the Riddhi building, which is part of the Siddhi Appt complex in Sonyfariya. Our office numbers are 117 and 118. The house number on the records is 1/3817. If you’ve ever been to Chowk Bazar, you know how busy the streets can get with people and scooters. It’s a constant hum of activity right outside our door. We handle overseas trade, so we spend a lot of time on the computer or the phone. The office is a bit small, but we’ve made it work for us over the years. We have fans running all day to keep the Surat heat away. It’s not a fancy corporate headquarters with glass walls. It’s just a place where we do our work and keep our files. Most of us have been working together for a long time, so it feels more like a small family than a big company. We know the local tea sellers and the other shopkeepers in the building. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to park a bike, let alone a car, but that’s just part of being in this part of town. We just keep our heads down and handle the logistics of moving goods across borders. It is a busy life, but it works for us.
