Jay Watch Co sits right in Chimnay Tower, G/10. It’s been here a long time. People around Memnagar know the spot near Subhash Chowk. It’s not a fancy place, just a shop on Gurukul Road where the watches get looked at and fixed. Most days start with opening the shutters and cleaning the glass. You see the same faces walking by to the market or the bus stop. It gets busy around noon when the sun is up. The shop is small, filled with small parts and tools. Sometimes the noise from the road is a bit much, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We spend a lot of time sitting at the bench with a magnifying glass. People bring in old watches their grandfathers owned or cheap ones that just stopped ticking. We don’t do big ads or anything. Most folks just see the sign when they go past the tower. It’s dusty work sometimes. The shelves are packed. There’s always a cup of tea getting cold on the table. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. Buildings going up and new shops opening, but we’re still here at G/10. It’s a simple life, just winding clocks and changing batteries. If you’re near the chowk, you’ve probably walked right past us without thinking much about it. That's fine by us. We just keep doing what we do.
