If you head down to Vaniavas, right across from the Dariyapur Gate, you’ll find us. We’re at number 1504. Jay Brass has been a part of this neighborhood for quite a long time. The area around Dariyapur Gate is always full of life, and our shop is no different. It’s a bit of an old-school setup. You’ll hear the sound of metal and the smell of the workshop as soon as you get close. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s mostly just us working with the brass, making sure the pieces are right. There’s a lot of history in these streets and we like being part of that. The workspace is pretty cramped because we have a lot of materials and tools everywhere. We know where everything is, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. Most of the guys here have been working together for years. We’re more like a bunch of friends than just coworkers. We share snacks and stories while we work. It’s a simple life, focused on the craft. Sometimes the heat in the summer makes the work tough, but we just keep the fans going and carry on. People from the neighborhood stop by to say hello or ask for a quick fix on something. We like the connection we have with the local folks around Dariyapur. It makes the long days feel a lot shorter.
