About India Hardchrome – Building & Construction Material in Ahmedabad
We work out of Shed No. C-8 and C-9 in the D.S.I.D.C. Industrial Complex at Nangloi. It is right off Rohtak Road, so there are always heavy trucks rumbling by. The sheds are big and have high ceilings, which is good because the machines make a lot of noise and it gets quite warm inside. Our floors are usually stained with oil and chemicals from the chrome plating process. It is a very hands-on kind of job. We spend most of the day in our work clothes, which are rarely clean. There is a specific smell to the workshop that you get used to after a while. We have large tanks and various metal parts laying around waiting for their turn. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear a nice suit. We usually have the radio playing in the background to drown out some of the grinding sounds. During the summer, the metal roof makes it very hot, so we drink a lot of water and try to keep moving. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room; if someone wants to see us, they just walk into the shed. It is hard work and it makes your muscles ache by the end of the shift. We just focus on getting the plating done right so the parts don't rust or wear out anytime soon.
