Our office for Hudco is up on the 4th floor of the Gruh Nirman Building, which is right on Ashram Road. Being on the 4th floor means we spend a fair bit of time waiting for the elevator, which sometimes has a mind of its own. Ashram Road is always buzzing with activity, and our windows look out over all the traffic and people heading to work. We mostly deal with housing matters and urban stuff. It’s a lot of sitting at desks and looking at files, but we try to keep the atmosphere light. We’ve been in this building for quite a while, so we know the other people on the floor and the tea guy downstairs pretty well. The work can be a bit heavy with all the regulations and paperwork involved in building and housing. It feels like the stack of folders on my desk never really gets any smaller, no matter how much I finish. We aren't a big, fancy firm with glass walls. Our office looks like a place where people actually work. There are files everywhere and the furniture is a bit older, but it's comfortable. We spend our days helping people navigate the system for their housing needs. It’s steady work and it keeps us occupied from nine to five, sometimes a bit later when there's a deadline. We just keep our heads down and do what needs to be done each day.
