Down at Plot No. 30 in GIDC, things are usually pretty dusty. If you spend enough time at Tirtheshwar Plywoods, you just get used to the smell of wood and heavy glue. It is a scent that stays with you even after you go home for the night. We spend most of our time moving those heavy sheets around. Some are much thicker than others, depending on what the truck brought in that morning. The guys are always wearing hats to keep the sawdust out of their hair while they work the machines. We have a couple of big saws that make a lot of noise, but you stop hearing the screech after a few weeks on the job. It is a big space but it starts to feel cramped when we have a lot of stock piled up. Loading the delivery trucks is probably the hardest part of the day, especially when the weather is bad outside. We have to be quick so the wood does not get damp from the rain. Sometimes the forklift acts up, and we have to spend an hour fixing it ourselves. It is just part of the routine. There is a small fan in the corner that does not do much, but we keep it running anyway to move the air. We do not spend time talking about big plans. We just look at the daily orders and get the plywood ready for the customers. It is a lot of lifting and stacking until we lock up the gate.
