Gujarat Batteries

We are over at Hirabhai Market, right on the road near Diwan Ballubhai School. If you know the Kankaria area, you know how busy it gets, especially when school lets out. Our shop is number 17. We’ve been selling batteries here for a long time. People come in for all sorts of things, mostly for their cars or bikes that won't start in the morning. It’s a small space, mostly filled with boxes of batteries stacked up to the ceiling. It can get a bit dusty with the road right outside, but we keep things moving. We aren't big on advertising. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming to us for ten or twenty years. Sometimes their kids come in now for their own vehicles. We just check the voltage, see if it needs a charge or if it's dead, and tell them honestly. We don't try to push things people don't need. It’s just a regular shop where we drink a lot of chai and talk to neighbors while we work. The market stays active until late, so we stay open too. It’s just how life is in this part of Ahmedabad. If you need a battery, you just walk in. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. Just us and the tools.
