Pranam Garment

Our place is on the third floor of Karnavati Arcade, in room 305. It’s near Nagar Sheths Vando. You have to walk up the stairs or take the lift if it’s working that day. We do garments here. There are several sewing machines and large wooden tables for cutting the fabric. Pranam Garment is what we’re known as in the building. It’s usually pretty warm on the third floor because of all the machines running and the lack of a breeze. We have stacks of fabric in different colors piled up against the walls almost to the ceiling. Some days we are just cutting patterns all day long. Other days we are just sewing sleeves and collars. We follow the orders that come in from our customers. It’s not very exciting work, but it keeps us busy and pays the bills. We have a few windows that look out, but we don’t spend much time looking at the view. There’s always another pile of clothes that needs finishing before the sun goes down. We pack the items into heavy cartons and get them ready for the transport trucks. The arcade has many other businesses too, so there’s always people coming and going in the hallways. We just keep our door open to let some air in while we work. We aren't a big corporation. It's just a workshop where we make clothes.
