If you come to Hirabhai Market on Diwan Ballubhai Marg, you have to head up to the third floor to find us at Shop No. 42-43. It’s a bit of a walk up, and the hallways can get a bit dark sometimes, but that’s where Ghanshyamdas Rajendraprasad has been for quite some time. We occupy two shops joined together because we needed the extra space for all the stock. It’s a traditional market setup, so it’s always buzzing with people and carts moving things around. Our space isn’t very modern; it’s mostly filled with desks and shelves. We deal with a lot of paperwork and phone calls throughout the day. Usually, someone is sitting at the front desk making notes or checking ledger books. The name on the board outside is long, so most people just know us by the shop numbers or the owners' names. Being on the third floor means we don’t get a lot of random foot traffic, which is fine since we mostly deal with regular clients who already know the way. The stairs are narrow, so we tell everyone to be careful coming up. We’ve been part of this market community for years now. You get to know the other shopkeepers and the tea sellers around the corner. It’s a busy life here in the heart of the market area, but we’re used to the noise and the constant activity. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just keep working on whatever needs doing next.
