Gammon India Ltd. Mumbai

We are located way down south in Kanyakumari, at a place called Villa Vilai in Aralvoimozhy. It’s a beautiful part of Tamil Nadu, but it’s also very windy, which can make construction work a bit of a challenge. Our office is basically a house that we’ve converted into a workspace. It feels more like a home than a corporate building, which is fine by us. We handle all the local projects from here, mostly dealing with the big infrastructure things that Gammon is known for. It’s a lot of logistics, trying to get materials moved through the mountain passes and down to the sites. We spend a lot of time talking to local suppliers and trying to keep everything on schedule. The pace here is a bit different than in the north, but the work is just as demanding. We have our fair share of problems, like rain delays or equipment breaking down, but we just deal with them as they come. No one here is trying to be a big boss. We all just pitch in where we are needed. It’s a lot of technical drawings and phone calls to the main office in Mumbai. We like the quiet of the village after a long day at the site. It’s a decent place to work, even if the wind never seems to stop blowing.
