We are based at D/2 in the Sunshine Apartments over in the Ahmedabad 15 area. It is a small office in a residential apartment building, which keeps things very low-key and straightforward. We don’t have a big corporate sign or a fancy entrance. You just come into the building and find us on the second floor. It’s a quiet place to work, which is helpful when we are trying to manage all the different parts of the Essar Group business from here. The neighborhood is mostly residential, so there isn’t the constant noise of heavy traffic you might find in the city center. We like it that way because it feels more personal and less like a giant machine. The office is basically just a few rooms with desks and filing cabinets. We spend a lot of time on the phone or working on the computer. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when everyone is in at the same time, but we manage just fine. There’s a small balcony where we can take a breather and look out at the trees in the courtyard. It’s an honest, simple way to run an office. Most of the people around here are our neighbors, and we’ve become a familiar sight over the years. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just show up, do the work, and make sure things are running as they should be. It is just a normal day-to-day routine for us.
